I am very seldom speechless -
But I find myself without words at the selflessness and strength of character, the incredible grace and dignity that Genie Francis exudes in every breath.. no need to wonder why I hold her in such high esteem and find in her an inspiration I have found in no other..

"The above represents a whole different caliber of class, folks."Matt Webb Mitovich

Indeed a caliber of class that simply cannot be equaled.

Genie Francis to General Hospital Fans: "I'm Sorry"

Genie Francis in 'The Note,' courtesy Hallmark ChannelInspired by the message at the heart of The Note, the Hallmark Channel movie she stars in this Saturday at 9 pm/ET, Genie Francis wants to make amends with any General Hospital fans who to this day — decades after the fact — were disappointed to see her quit the sudser at the peak of her popularity. "I know that Laura [Baldwin Spencer] meant a great deal to many people, and still does," says Francis. "I've long regretted not taking the fans into account when making the hasty decision to leave the show.

"Forgiveness and reconciliation are at the core of The Note, and filming it forced me to look inside myself at certain decisions in my past.... Right now I want to reach out to all of my fans and say that I'm sorry. I'm sorry for leaving you so abruptly, for not taking into account the feelings of the people who helped Laura truly take on a life of her own.

"It was the decision of a young, impetuous girl," Francis says in closing, "and the woman she has become asks for your forgiveness."

The above represents a whole different caliber of class, folks. — Matt Webb Mitovich

It's Time to Take a Stand!!

October 26, 2007 - the one year anniversary of Genie Francis' first air date in her 2006 return. She spent 4 weeks giving an Emmy Winning performance that brought the entire cast of General Hospital to a better place in her short time back as Laura Spencer. For those few weeks, General Hospital had heart, soul, passion, love and compassion. In the wake of her departure and subsequent Emmy win, ABC could not even be bothered to give her a much deserved congratulations, nor return her on a permanent basis to the role she made hers, now 31 years ago. The role for which she and her acting partner, Anthony Geary, were inducted into the Soap Opera Hall of Fame 11 years ago. She and Tony changed the face of General Hospital 30 years ago and today that face has taken on a very dark and disastrous front. On this day, I propose an all out blackout for the upcoming sweeps beginning the week of October 29, 2007. This blackout is called in the name of Genie Francis, for the unbelievabley revolting way she has been treated over her 31 years on set and for the incredibley disgusting way she has been treated by ABC regarding a return to her home. It is also called in the name of the fans who grew up with General Hospital and have watched it disintegrate into the cesspool of today. No longer do we see family core values, romance, true love, truth, integrity, compassion, and basic family structure. General Hospital of today is centered around mass destruction, the darkness of the mob, criminal activity, one night stands, lies and lack of morals. It's time for us to take a stand and not allow this face of General Hospital to pollute our air waves any further. Their ratings are diving daily to new lows. We don't have to take part in the destruction of OUR General Hospital any longer. Don't give ABC the satisfaction of watching the filth they are giving us. Don't accept this cut-rate garbage when we know what General Hospital is capable of and has given us in the past. Bring them DOWN so they have to rebuild to OUR standards! BLACKOUT their Sweeps!

Hallmark Channel's Press Release
EIGHT WORDS INSPIRE MILLIONS
WHEN A MESSAGE OF HOPE SURVIVES TRAGEDY

EMMY® AWARD WINNER GENIE FRANCIS STARS IN
‘THE NOTE’
A HALLMARK ORIGINAL MOVIE PREMIERING DECEMBER 8

Ted McGinley (“Hope & Faith”) and Rick Roberts (“Man of the Year”)
Join the “General Hospital” Icon in the Inspirational Drama

A small scrap of paper carrying a message of love and forgiveness survives a fiery plane crash, and leads a journalist struggling with her own past to embark on an inspirational journey in “The Note,” a Hallmark Original Movie premiering Saturday, December 8 (9pm/8c). Emmy® winner Genie Francis – who helped make ‘Luke and Laura’ a worldwide phenomenon on “General Hospital” – stars, and is joined by veteran comedic actor Ted McGinley (“Hope & Faith”) and Rick Roberts (“Man of the Year”).

Francis stars as Peyton MacGruder, a struggling human interest columnist whose editor warns her to bring her numbers up, or else. Dejected, her only moral support is from her longtime colleague, King Danville (McGinley), who she shares a flirtatious-but-professional relationship with. When a horrific plane crash kills all aboard in the waters near her office, Peyton suddenly finds herself in possession of a scrap of paper containing a hastily written but heartfelt message from one of the passengers to his child. Inspired by the power of the words, Peyton pledges to discover the note’s intended recipient and deliver it by Christmas. Taking her readers along for the journey while trying to stay one step ahead of a TV tabloid reporter (Roberts), Peyton sets out across the country in her search, and unexpectedly confronts her own personal demons in the process.

“The Note” shows how dramatically life can change in an instant, and how it takes mere moments to make a connection: to reach out to someone you care about, to offer words of reconciliation, to express love or regret or admiration. To exhibit the power a few words can have on the lives of others, Hallmark Channel is launching www.WhatWouldYouWrite.com on Monday, October 22 as an outlet for viewers to submit their own notes and answer the question ‘who would you reach out to if you only had a minute?’ The network is asking TV writers to become the first contributors to this unique experiment, which is sure to result in a range of emotions and unexpected results.

“The Note” is a co-production of Hallmark Channel and Lightworks Pictures in association with WildRice Productions. Joel S. Rice (“Shredderman Rules”) and William Spencer Riley are executive producers. Maura Dunbar is the executive in charge of production for Lightworks Pictures. Doug Barr (“To Be Fat Like Me”) is the director. Paul W. Cooper wrote the screenplay based on the novel by Angela Hunt.

Hallmark Channel, owned and operated by Crown Media Holdings, Inc., is a 24-hour basic cable network that provides a diverse slate of high-quality entertainment programming to a national audience of nearly 85 million subscribers. The top tier program service is distributed through more than 5,300 cable systems and communities as well as direct-to-home satellite services across the country. Hallmark Channel consistently ranks among the top 10 ad-supported cable networks in Prime Time and Total Day household ratings and is the nation’s leading network in providing quality family programming. Crown Media also operates a second 24-hour linear channel, Hallmark Movie Channel, and will launch Hallmark Movie Channel HD in first quarter 2008.

Ita??s time for another wave of Angels

We've been quiet for a few weeks and it's time to make some noise again!  Beginning Tuesday (Monday is Columbus Day, so mail doesn't run) we will begin another wave of Angel mail to Sweeney, Phelps and Frons.  Short notes to remind them that we have NOT gone away and we want our Angel back! We are also adding in a call day, Wednesday the 10th will be Tony's first day back on canvas..so we want to take that day and call the GH comment line with comments such as "Tony's back - Where's Genie?" or "Luke's back - Where's Laura - he needs his Angel!"  Please remember not to leave negative or hateful comments.

Silence Can Sometimes be Golden

While Operation: Genie's Angels continues the fight to bring Genie Francis back to her General Hospital home, things have become quiet on any news of her.  However, that silence can be golden as Genie is now filming the lead role in an original Hallmark movie, 'The Note', to be aired December 8th.  So, while we still await her return to us in Port Charles, Genie has the spotlight through other ventures.

"While General Hospital continues to leave coal in Genie Francis' stocking, the daytime icon has been gifted with a lead role in a Hallmark Channel movie. According to Variety, The Note — premiering Dec. 8 and also starring Ted McGinley — concerns a "lonely hearts" columnist who comes across a letter written to an unidentified child by an ill-fated airline passenger. Francis' editor puts her in charge of tracking down the tot before Christmas, all the while chronicling her (sure-to-be-emotional) quest.

As for McGinley's part in all of this, it would seem that maybe he got cast in a TV series with the aforementioned airplane"

I hope all you Angels are still flying high!! We have not given up the fight nor the flight for Genie!!  We are currently in discussions regarding an online petition for the release of Phelps, as well as one to return Genie to us.  While Operation: Genie's Angels has been wildy successful, we are in the hopes that an online petition may give those of you out there a chance to help when you might have been unable to do so previously.  Perhaps Ms. Francis will not grace our screens on GH again in 2007, but we are still holding out hopes that early 2008 will bring our Angel home to us!!

Also, please check the Mvid page as new videos have been added!

 Keep flying for Genie!!!!

Sorry it's been a few days folks.. life is intervening..

Operation: Genie's Angels is doing a mass mailing to Anne Sweeney and Robert Iger again..not JUST for Genie, but for the state of GH as it is today.. expressing distaste for the Jax storyline, the bed hopping, the disregard for AIDS with all the switching of sexual partners (ie. Maxie-Logan-LuLu), the mob taking over the forefront of GH, the constant day in day out usage of Sonny/Carly/Jason/Liz/Lucky storylines, the LACK of the use of vets on this show (see previous post for number of appearances in the month of August) any and all things about GH of today that you find distasteful, up to and including the blatent disrespect of Genie Francis. If these things don't change, then the plan is a total blackout of GH during sweeps.. The addresses to mail these letters are:

Write to:

Anne Sweeney
Pres. ABC. Disney
500 S. Buena Vista St.
Burbank, CA. 91521

Robert Iger
CEO Walt Disney Co.
500 S. Buena Vista St.
Burbank, CA. 91521

Also, a mass emailing to Daniel Coleridge at SOAPNET - he's always been an open supporter for Genie.. so the emails to him are strictly Genie related.. Operation Genie's Angels to bring Genie home!!  daniel@soapnet.com

Let's Fly Angels!!! For Genie and for the GH of old!!
